Since October is my birthday month, I get to be spoiled a little and one of my birthday presents is The Huda Beauty Textured Shadows Palette in Rose Gold Edition. Yaaassss!

I’ve been eyeing on Huda’s products for a long time now, she’s such a business inspiration. From a finance analyst to a make-up mogul, what a transition! Hands down to that, you go girl!

I’ve tried some of her lashes and I must say they are amazing! They look gorgeous on my clients with wide & deep set eyes but I don’t like using it for myself since I tend to go natural and man, those lashes are not subtle! I also heard a lot of good reviews on her lip contour.

I don’t usually go crazy and line up at Sephora just to get newly launched products. I’m not yet there, but maybe soon? fingers crossed hopefully not. HAH! But I was chuffed that I got this recently launched palette and I got to try it right away so I thought I’d do a review about it.

So here’s how it looks. The packaging is quite light weight, it’s made of thick cardboard and plastic (but not the cheapest kind). I like the packaging because it’s not too fragile. I have a lot of palettes in my kit and I travel a lot with my kit that’s why I consider packaging a lot. I don’t want any of my make-up cracked and damage..that’s just heartbreaking. I wouldn’t even wish that on my worst enemy.

Huda Beauty Rose Gold Edition

The size of it is average, I think it’s almost the same size as the MAC eyeshadow x15 palette. Fits perfectly on my Zuca bag pouch. I’m quite practical when it comes to packaging and this is perfect for me, I’m giving it 4.5/5. Though if you are looking for a grandiose and luxurious palette, this is not it.

Huda Beauty Rose Gold Edition

Look at the number of eyeshadows you’re getting!  18 shades! I love that this palette has variety, I could use this palette in a lot of make-up gigs. It offers a range of colors that you could play around with. What’s not to love about this, right? My personal favourite shades are: Fling, Dubai, Blessed and Maneater.

Huda Beauty Rose Gold Edition

The palette has textured eyeshadows which is best applied with fingers ( as written at the back of the palette itself), I tried it with fingers and brush of course, just because I’m curious like that. And yes, curiosity disappointed the cat, it’s best applied with fingers. It’s not the most blendable product but the pigmentation is to die for. I think you just have to be a little bit patient with it and blend until you get some biceps. Nah, just’s not that bad. It’s just not as blendable as I expected it to be.

The back also says that it has 3- Ready-to-layer textures: Deep Matte, 3D Metal, Pressed Pearls.  If I’ve guessed it right, the shades: Dubai, #Blessed & Fling are the 3D Metals. Angelic & Moon Dust are the Pressed Pearls and Bossy, Flamingo, Shy, Bae, Black Truffle, Suede, Coco, Maneater, Henna & Sandalwood are the  Deep Mattes.

The 3D Metals are my favorite among the 3 types of shadows that the palette has. The shades are just perfect for a night-time & dramatic look. It’s very pigmented and blendable using a brush or your finger.

The Pressed Pearls are okay, I’ll definitely use it but there’s nothing too amazing about it. Or maybe because I have another palette that has both shades similar to it.

The Deep Mattes has the most number of shades in the palette- 10 out of 18 shades are matte. there are some shades that made it to the cut and some disappoint. When I first tried it, I got excited about the shades Shy, Bossy, Coco, Henna and Sandalwood. It’s not as blendable as I want it to be but it’s pigmented but not an “OH-MY-GOSH-I-WANT-TO-MARRY-THIS-EYESHADOW” moment for me. Even Flamingo, Bae & Suede kinda disappointed me because it’s not highly pigmented. I think the trick to this is to layer the products. Lovely colors though, I’m not giving up on the palette just yet!

Black Truffle & Maneater  are perfect! The black actually’s that deep of a black! and I just love that Maneater complements Fling.

Here are the swatches of each shades per row.

The Verdict: I’m kind of in between but leaning towards I like it. My overall rate for the Huda Beauty Textured Shadows Palette Rose Gold Edition is 6.7/10. There are lots of improvements that could be done but hey, you can never not like a product that’s made by an aspirational woman who’s put her heart and soul in creating something and putting it out there for the whole world t o judge.

I am a great supporter of women and humans in general who are working towards their dreams and Huda Kattan is definitely the epitome of a woman who had a dream and worked her sexy a** off towards achieving it!

You can purchase this product online and all Sephora’s here in the UAE. I got mine from Yas Mall in Abu Dhabi. The price is AED250/ $65, it’s actually not too bad for 18 shades of eyeshadow.
