Product Review: Macadamia Professional Hair Care

I’ve been using Macadamia products for a few good years now and I’ve been very happy about the effects of it. As some of you know, I’ve had long healthy locks before I had my pixie. Unfortunately, cutting my hair short is not a voluntary decision or a fashion statement but it was a salon treatment gone wrong. That’s another story to tell but anyway, my  go to hair product after coconut oil is Macadamia Professional. Nazih, my go-to professional hair & beauty shop here in Dubai went on sale so I obviously went out of my way to visit the shop and take advantage of that sale! I got myself and the bff some Macadamia goodies! Is it just me or is there anyone else out there who likes buying things in large quantities to save. I bought the Rejuvinating Shampoo & Moisturizing Rinse both in 1 Liter. Yes, 1 liter because I have a fear of running out of hair products! LOL but seriously though, I think it’s quite economical if you buy products in large quantities …

Product Review: Giella Eye M Glam Mineral Highlighter

I’ve recently joined Giella Custom Blend Cosmetics as their first Brand Ambassador in the UAE. I am thrilled to be part of the Giella family because it’s a brand that I truly believe in. Before I was even approached to become a brand ambassador, Eye M Glam is already my go-to highlighter. As a beauty writer, I promised myself that I will only recommend and promote products that I truly believe in. I don’t see the point of promoting something that you don’t actually like, it just doesn’t make sense to me. Giella products are hand-crafted with ingredients selected to customize the perfect product just for you. Products can be customized for allergies including nut oils and butters. She stands behind her products as being the finest in quality, texture and shade selections. All GIELLA products use the most pure ingredients that can  be found giving their makeup real skincare benefits. Giella is based and manufactured in the US but they deliver internationally and all the products are available online. All Giella products are cruelty free, non-pore …

Product Review: NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation

I know this foundation has been out in the market since forever but as I mentioned before I don’t usually give into hype, I am more of a sure-hit make-up buyer. Why would I gamble my hard earned money to buy expensive make-up to try and there’s no assurance that it’s going to be good. WHY? I try to be a little sensible so I can justify my make-up spending. Plus, I’m a make-up artist and I like using top of the line products on my clients, they are not my guinea pigs whom I’ll try so-so products on. So I was at Sephora the other day and I saw a friend of a friend who works at NARS so I thought it was the perfect timing to get me some NARS goodies. First thing that I bought was the NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation, obviously I got a little excited about it because I got 3 shades: Stromboli, Syracuse & Barcelona. The shades are all in medium, the reason behind is in my list …

Product Review: Huda Beauty Textured Shadows Palette Rose Gold Edition

Since October is my birthday month, I get to be spoiled a little and one of my birthday presents is The Huda Beauty Textured Shadows Palette in Rose Gold Edition. Yaaassss! I’ve been eyeing on Huda’s products for a long time now, she’s such a business inspiration. From a finance analyst to a make-up mogul, what a transition! Hands down to that, you go girl! I’ve tried some of her lashes and I must say they are amazing! They look gorgeous on my clients with wide & deep set eyes but I don’t like using it for myself since I tend to go natural and man, those lashes are not subtle! I also heard a lot of good reviews on her lip contour. I don’t usually go crazy and line up at Sephora just to get newly launched products. I’m not yet there, but maybe soon? fingers crossed hopefully not. HAH! But I was chuffed that I got this recently launched palette and I got to try it right away so I thought I’d do a …

Product Review: Dr. Ci Labo Aqua Collagen-Gel Aloe Cool

I recently got a skin care loot from Japan. I’ve heard lots of great reviews about Japanese skin care products. If you look at the trend in Japan, women are more obsessed with perfecting their skin care routine rather than make-up. Asians tend to go more natural and youthful with their make-up look and how do they achieve this? By taking care of their skin so well. I didn’t know what to purchase since most of the packaging description is in Nihongo but I started with a multi-tasking product called Dr. Ci Labo Aqua Collagen-Gel Aloe Cool. It works as a toner, milk lotion, make-up base & beauty balm. I’ve been using this for 3 days now and I am well impressed with it! I use it twice a day, in the morning after washing my face & at night before bed time. If you can see, the consistency is quite thick but it doesn’t feel sticky at all. After applying an ample amount of the product on the face, leave it to dry for a minute …

MORES & KJM Cosmetics – Asian Beauty Brands Represent!

It’s been a while since I last wrote on my blog. Yes, life happened and yes, it’s hard to be an adult. But talking about that is a whole different story and this post is about my discovery of two amazing Asian beauty brands from the Philippines & Thailand. The online beauty store, PrimaBeauty Finds sent me some Thai beauty products called MORES & the Filipino made cosmetics line called KJM cosmetics.  Oh! A little bit of chika on the side, the owner of the PrimaBeauty Finds is such a darling! She made sure that I got the products right away. Who wouldn’t want to deal with nice people, right? Definitely 10 for customer service, good manners & right conduct! HA! 🙂 From KJM Cosmetics, I received lip tints in Pink Puff, Summer Kiss, Bittersweet Magenta & Dolled. I also got tinted lip balms in Manic, Pandora & Clarity. Out of all the lip tint shades that I’ve tried, my favorite is Bittersweet Magenta though I also love Summer Kiss – this shade is definitely a …

Product Review: Benjabelle Brush Tree

If you are a make up artist or someone who uses make up brushes a lot, I know that we share the same woes of having to wash and dry our brushes constantly. Cleaning & tidying up my kit is my least favourite part as a make up artist but hygiene is the most important factor involved in your craft. I personally wash my brushes every after use especially if I use my brushes on my clients. Never ever go come to a job with your brushes unclean, you’d look unprofessional and uhm, disgusting. Who wants that? Washing your brushes constantly affects its longevity because the water tends to seep into the stem of your brush. I’ve recently bought a Benjabelle Sunflower Brush Tree, I bought it because it would save me space as I dry my brushes. I usually lay all my brushes flat on a table but it takes a lot of space and you have to roll it over to make sure that all the sides will dry out. Benjabelle brush tree is …

The POREfessional vs. Face Atelier Ultra Matte Mattifier

I know this product has been out for a long time now but I just had the perfect opportunity to get one for myself last week when I was at Mall of the Emirates and Benefit had a kiosk outside Wojooh and the sales lady enticed me with a free bag if I get three items! No, I did not get three items and I did not get my free bag but I thought to myself, oh well this could be a nice addition to my kit since my Face Atelier Ultra Matte Mattifier is almost finished. To get to the point, is The POREfessional a worthy replacement to the Face Atelier Ultra Matte Mattifier? I’ve used The POREfessional for over a week now and I’m not too happy with the results. Yes, it left my skin smooth and yes, it gave that blurring effect but after 4-5 hours, I noticed that it makes my skin look like it’s peeling unlike when I use my Face Atelier Ultra Foundation on its own. (Read post about Face …

Product Review: Makeup Eraser

I was pretty excited and intrigued when I first saw the Makeup Eraser. I wouldn’t deny but I was doubtful about it at first, how could a normal looking cloth remove my make up just like that? but for practicality’s sake, I have to give it a try. I was having a discussion with myself that if I buy this and it works, I’ll save at least three bottles of make up remover and a lot of cotton! So for AED 135, I’m placed my bet on it! After opening the box, I placed the cloth in the laundry as instructed, once it’s dry I had it ready so when I reach home that day, I could give it a try! Before using the cloth, you have to wet it with warm water and you’re good to go! I still can’t believe my eyes after I’ve tried the make up eraser last night. Yes, without a doubt it is brilliantly effective! I’ve had my foundation, concealer, brows, blush, waterproof eyeliner and lipstick on but it …
